Swimsuit Matsuri - Shinkiba 9/25

pyroyaleI attended the Swimsuit Live today, so here is a review.
Let’s get the slightly negative thing out of the way first… Shinkiba Studio Coast is not a big venue. It probably holds 1,500 when full? It was not full. At all. I’d guess maybe 1,200 at the most.
That’s such a shame, because this was probably the most fun you’ll ever get at a live involving GACKT (I’d say this was more fun even than Gakuen).
We were really late getting into the venue. Doors should have opened at 17:00, but the first people didn’t go in until 17:40. Thanks for making us wait around outside in bikinis guys!
When walking into the venue, the first thing everyone saw was a catwalk and additional stage area. Absolutely genius idea, but probably a result of slow ticket sales :-/. It was fantastic for me though, as I was able to get onto the barricade right by the end of the stage, on the left side (YOU’s side) but far enough to the end that I had a pretty clear view of the stage.
The first announcement was done by GACKT. He did the usual “don’t smoke, don’t record” speech, and the rest of his speech can probably be summed up best by “tits or GTFO, bakayaro!” He called for the men to cheer. Silence. He called again. All the women yelled “they aren’t here yet!” And they weren’t – they were still outside. IDIOT.
The men had their own special entrance, complete with entrance music and a spotlight. It was about this time that I wondered what the hell we were letting ourselves in for…
Shinya did the next announcement, although it was very, very short.
The live started and the guys were all in Hawaiian shirts again.
Shinya – blue
Takumi – yellow
Chacha – pink
U:ZO – green
YOU – purple (matched his eyeshadow XD He was looking stunning again, and has really nice legs!)
Jon – red
GACKT – black
The set list was the same. In fact, until Vanilla, it was pretty much business as usual for the live. GACKT has progressed from running his hand down Jon’s chest, to grabbing his balls and than running his hand up though.
Then for Vanilla, they started to use the catwalk and extra stage. It meant that we didn’t get GACKT and Jon dry humping each other, but c’est la vie.
It’s hard to remember exactly what happened where, so this may be a muddle…
After Vanilla (I think), a silver bra and pink panties were thrown onto the second stage. U:ZO grabbed the bra and hung it on his bass, while YOU played with the panties. Jon split the crowd in half, the left side for him and the right side for GACKT, and the two sides tried to out cheer each other. GACKT was jigging around like a kid on a sugar high, hopping around in circles and generally being really, really crazy and un-GACKTish, so of course his side were cheering wildly. Jon decided to fight fire with fire and put the bra on.
He really likes his bras, right? Unfortunately, GACKT didn’t seem to notice.
There was so much water. Bottles and bottles and bottles and SUPER SOAKERS. GACKT and Jon really enjoyed the super soakers and GACKT especially enjoyed mimicking masturbating with the pump before spraying. YOU and Chacha also had a go with the super soakers and YOU was just so smiley… XDDD
It wasn’t long before they progressed from squirting the crowd with water to squirting themselves and each other. Jon was yelling at the crowd and leaning back, when GACKT came behind him with two bottles and sprayed them down his chest. Jon leaned further back so his head was on GACKT’s chest, and reached behind him to put his hands around GACKT’s neck. Then, GACKT rubbed in the water on Jon’s chest
Jon got his own back by spraying GACKT with water, but whenever Jon sprayed GACKT, 10% went on GACKT’s chest, and the other 90% was concentrated on his crotch. The water was literally dripping from GACKT’s shorts. Whenever this happened (and it happened several times) GACKT would then stand in front of the crowd and shake the water from his dripping shorts at them.
GACKT was also frequently spitting water over the crowd. Eventually he spat water directly into Jon’s mouth. Jon was really cute after this, he started fanning himself and behaving like a rabid fangirl, hahaha.
By the end of the show, it was pretty much just the band members all drowning each other with as much water as they could find. I think GACKT copped the most, mainly because of Jon’s insistence on pouring entire bottles of water onto his crotch. At the very end of the show, Jon poured water over GACKT’s head and body from behind him, and then grabbed at GACKT’s nipples. GACKT just turned around and laughed, haha. It was pretty obvious that so much of this play was not planned and rehearsed and that they were just cutting loose and having fun. It was a delight to see it.
The water bottles were a mix of room temperature and cold water. It was a real shock when the cold ones hit you, and it was funny to see how much of a shock it was to the band too. GACKT nearly jumped ten feet in the air when Jon sprayed his chest with the cold bottle XDD
After the final song had finished, GACKT was talking to the crowd but the rest of the band were messing around with the water. U:ZO and YOU were spraying water on Shinya’s shirt (luckily not a white shirt) and it was causing the crowd to cheer. GACKT was jokingly shouting at them for being noisy, so the band would then spray the crowd to get them to shut up.
Chacha’s side were particularly noisy at one point, so GACKT goes running over and I’m not 100% certain whether this was on purpose or due to the wet stage, but he ended up in the fourth row, back first. Takumi and a staff member pulled GACKT back out, and as soon as his feet were on the stage, he jumped back in again! I’m sure the second one was intentional. When he got back on stage, GACKT was readjusting his shorts and complaining that the crowd had been grabbing at him. Well duh, GACKT. You’re lucky you weren’t scratched to death. Ask Yoshiki or Miyavi about that.
To finish the show, it was both Chacha and Takumi. Wearing goggles and snorkels. Hahaha.
This was my eighteenth GACKT live, and by FAR the most fun. And the band were all having such a blast too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen GACKT so bouncy and crazy on stage. They were all just smiling and thoroughly enjoying themselves. As Jon said on Twitter, they were like eight year olds having a huge water fight.
I have a huge bruise on my hip from where I was crushed against the barricade but it was worth it. And, live number 19 is tomorrow (well, if we’re counting Nemuri Kyoshiro, it’s actually number 21, haha)
I’m sure I’ve forgotten some things, but it was just a big blur of FUN.
If they do another bikini live next year, I'M GOING. And I strongly urge anyone who has the confidence to do it, to do so too.
