YFC Sendai 8/12
Aug. 13th, 2010 02:52 amThoughts from the show tonight...
The tour goods queue was tiny compared to yesterday. I guess the crowd was made up of mainly the same people so they had no need to queue.
When we got to the venue around 4ish, the Gakuchis were out. As it had been raining on and off and the floor was wet, they stayed near to the venue AND HAD PLASTIC COVERINGS ON THEIR FEET!

So cute!
Unlike Osaka there was no barrier between them and the crowd so it was really easy to get a photo.

(That's me and
anei_no_tsuki )
We got into the venue and I managed to get right down the front again and found myself next to Iris. We were chatting and waiting patiently for the rest of the crowd to file in... and the pushing started. Already. A full 30 minutes or so before the show was due to start and it was already like a mosh pit. It was insane.
Unlike the European Tour where the PA announcements were made by a third party, these announcements were all made by the band. You did the first, the long one where you're lectured to stop smoking, not film and commit seppuku if you disobey. Junji did the second announcement, the "five minute warning" one and Chacha did the one after the show. I don't remember who did yesterdays other than the first announcement was Chirolyn.
Iris and I started out in one spot but by the time the second announcement was made we were in a completely different place because of all of the pushing and shoving.
Zan started and everything just went mental. We got separated quickly and I ended up back down by Chacha again. As the show progressed I kept moving further left (towards GACKT) and further forward and by the time Uncontrol had finished, I was about third row and directly in front of the corner of GACKT's platform.
GACKT had tattoos ^_^ Well, the temporary tattoos that they were selling at the tour goods. He had the 'chicken' logo on his right bicep and the YFC lettering and the kanji logo on his right pec, just under his collar bone. They looked DAMN good on him. I never thought GACKT could pull off tattoos but he can pull off temporary red ones very well! Chacha also had one of the chicken logos on his arm.
He still has the braids in, but they're shorter. Before he had his hair braided down to his neck, then he moved it to just past his ear and now the line of the beads at the end of the braids is in line with the top of his ear. The rest of it is loose. It looks better.
He had some very light bruising on his left side, just above his hips that kinda looked like fingermarks. I suspect he was probably doing something in training that required someone to support him and they gripped a little too hard.
And oh yes, the little finger lick from the EVER video has made its way into his move set. It not only appeared during EVER, but at the end of one of the earlier songs too.
GACKT was a little more unsteady than the night before but I never really feared he was going to fall at any time. He still sounded good and still looked strong.
He did something that I can't remember seeing him do for years - he actually reached out and touched the hands of the people in the front row. It was only a fist bump so really, it was his gloves that touched people but it was nice to see him do it.
He also did that amazing trick of sweating buckets from his body... without having his make up run AT ALL. Seriously, his face looked just as perfect at the end of Kagero as it did at the beginning of Zan. What kind of make up does he use?! I want some! At least the rest of JOB have the decency to look just as sweaty and messy as everyone else in the crowd.
I think they've changed the audio mix from the beginnings of the tour. I remember being in Osaka and being able to hear the backing track vocals on the chorus lines of FLOWER just as strongly as I could hear GACKT but here, there didn't seem to be *any* backing vocals there at all. Chacha was providing more vocals than I've seen him do in quite some time. Justified definitely has more guitars and the drumming during GACKT's falsetto has been changed due to him taking over the drumming of the cymbals. Before, Junji would just sit and twirl his one drumstick because GACKT was doing what he would normally do, but now he has something to do with both drumsticks.
I was quite lucky with the place I found myself in. It was rough and hot and I had many more bodies pressed against me than I would like to remember, but most of the people around me were 3-4 inches shorter than me again. This meant that when GACKT looked to his left and down to the first few rows... the first thing he saw was *me*. He must have stared at me at least a dozen times throughout the show. At first I thought I was imagining it but I quickly figured out that he would stare at me until I smiled and then he'd look away. Every single time, he'd stare, I'd stare back, I'd smile and he'd look away - it was as if he was *waiting* for me to smile. I couldn't do anything more than that as I was already singing along, jumping up and down and generally being crazy.
Somewhere during the first four songs, I felt a really sharp pain in my right arm. I checked my arm to see if it was bleeding and then completely forgot about it for the rest of the gig. It wasn't until I got outside that it started hurting and I checked it out (apparently GACKT is the greatest pain killer known to man).

Yeah. Two big scratches and one hell of a bruise. That won't be pretty in the morning.
The gig finished and I found Iris stood a couple of rows behind me and we made our way out to join up with
lefcadio who was stuck with balcony seats again.
As we were chilling outside, the staff member who interviewed me and Jessica yesterday saw us and started talking to us again. He's such a nice guy - he remembered that we'd told him we lived in Japan and was asking us about that.
We saw him filming some Japanese girls and I'm really intrigued now by what he's doing. He told us straight away that he was going to interview us and that GACKT would see it. The filming consisted of him asking us questions. Whenever he filmed any Japanese people though, the filming consisted of "GAKUTO~! YOU~! CHACHA~! CHIROLYN~! JUN-JI~! AHHHHHHHHHHHH" and other random squeals. No questions asked at all. He knows Japanese and he always had a Japanese staff member near him so I really, really want to know what this is all about.
Iris had seen some of her friends in the hall who had told her that yesterday they'd waited at the back of the venue and saw the band leave. We were still pretty hyper and awake so we decided to give it a go. We walked around the back of the venue and were getting lots of angry stares from staff members... because we walked through the wrong part. We actually walked right past the equipment trucks, the transport for the band and also the stage door
The Zepp staff had a little area roped off for fans to stand and wait so we joined the small crowd. About 30 minutes later, a van pulled past that had all of JOB inside. Chacha was sat at the open window and was very smiley, You was hidden behind a curtain but when he heard the noise he poked his head through the window and started being crazy.
We then started waiting for GACKT. And we waited... and waited.. and waited. It took him another 30 minutes to finally show his face after numerous warnings from the staff that we couldn't take any photos of him. We wouldn't have been able to anyway as he was sat behind a tinted window that he didn't open and he didn't even look our way - he just did his gangsta hand signals as acknowledgement.
We were all pretty shocked and kinda disgusted to see one of the Japanese fans run to a waiting car and then drive off after his van. It's one thing to stand by the venue, in an area that the staff have created purely so you can see the band leave but it's a completely different thing to actually CHASE AFTER the poor guy. He looked really tired, he probably wanted nothing more than to relax and unwind after two hot concerts in a row - he doesn't need demented fans chasing down his van and intruding on his private time.</rant>
I think that's about it. I'm sure I'll remember something more tomorrow.
I'm going to be so sore tomorrow. I can already feel it in my calves from where I was trying to dig into the floor and stop myself from being moved. My arm hurts if there's any pressure on it and will probably be an amazing mass of multi coloured bruising by the morning.
It was worth it though!
And if you read this
amaiakuyume - it was nice meeting you! Hope to see you in Sapporo!
