So...

Michael Jackson dies.

ohnotheydidnt goes berserk until that part of the database can't be accessed (a usual occurance in an ohnotheydidnt epic post).

This then spreads across LJ and fucks everything up for an hour while emergency maintenance is carried out.

ohnotheydidnt is now completely suspended and LJ (almost) returns to normal.

Jeez, that's what, 3 times in the last 6 months now that ohnotheydidnt has killed LJ? Ya'd think LJ would have sorted this out by now.

It's been a crazy day in celebrity land.

It's quite sad to hear about the death of Michael Jackson. Though I have never been a real fan nor have I actually ever sat down and listened to his music, I believe his contribution to pop music will forever be remembered.

BTW I haven't heard about what happened with "ohnotheydidnt" com, care to share it with me?

I was never the biggest Jackson fan either but some of his songs, especially the classics, are some of the best pop songs ever written. It's a shame that the last 10+ years had to happen for him really.

ohnotheydidnt gets a crazy amount of traffic on a normal day and the Jackson post was insane. It reached 2,500 comments in about 15 minutes and then overloaded the server because too many people were posting. LJ usually just locks down the post that's causing the trouble for a minute or two until things calm down but this time it was too much and knocked all of LJ out.

WOW! For a com to generate so much traffic in such a short time is really amazing! But it's a nightmare for LJ servers...haha

I seriously can't believe all the fuss over LJ with MJ... Okay, so I sort of can. It was bound to be a big thing when he died, and all the buzz around him at the moment couldn't have helped any.

It's all so mad. It took me a while to believe it when I heard! You can never be sure what's a joke and what's not when it comes down to Mr. Jackson, can you>
